MARÍA TERESA PANIAGUA
We met María Teresa Paniagua, a woman on the verge of her nineties who lives alone in Lavapiés, in the historic heart of Madrid. Energetic. Mentally brilliant, always smiling, vigorous. And I just thought, “I want this for myself.”
María Teresa is a famous theater personality who, in her prime, sang the lead role in all the zarzuelas in which she worked, gracing the stages all over Spain and other continents.
In an era where the pandemic of loneliness looms over the West, where the need for human connection is extreme, what we did with her was precisely this. Living, having fun with her and, above all, learning.
Many aspects that we do not usually take into account, need a reflection for a better life. Emotions come into play, education, culture, daily life, time, all to grow in a more conscious way, more aligned with happiness.
The emotional journey we had in The Sweet Taste of Success gave us the opportunity to touch on these central themes. It was only natural to seek the meaning of “success” by investigating it with someone who received fame and applause, like Maria Teresa and like all the personalities we interviewed to find out how they perceive success in their lives.
